Pediatric Ophthalmologists are ophthalmologists with additional education in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and strabismus (eye misalignment) in children and adults. The development of normal binocular vision in childhood is crucial for the development of good vision into adulthood. The pediatric ophthalmologiss at the Ross Eye Institute are driven to diagnose and treat these diseases before they cause irreparable vision loss. We commonly treat strabismus (eye misalignment, crossed/wandering eyes), ptosis (drooping eye lid), cataracts, glaucoma, retinoblastoma (cancer of the retina), and common need for glasses (farsightedness, nearsightedness and astigmatism).
The Pediatric Ophthalmologists at the Ross Eye Institute also work together with the Orthoptic Service to diagnose and treat adults with double vision.
